What is a Clinical Research Nurse?

The American Nurses Association (ANA) designated research nursing as a subspecialty of nursing practice whose framework is comprised of five domains of practice: 1. clinical practice, 2. human subject protection, 3. study management, 4. care coordination and 5. continuity and contribution to science. With 98% of all countries participating in clinical trials, this subspecialty provides a unique opportunity for nurses to participate in and contribute to clinical research in a professional capacity.

This short self-paced online course is designed to introduce nursing professionals, including undergraduate and graduate nursing students and advanced practice nurses, to the field of translational research, with the goal of fostering greater awareness around the role of the research nurse in a variety of disciplines and clinical research settings.
