Improve your study's recruitment and retention plan for working with diverse populations.

Created in collaboration with the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research, this course will teach you how to conduct research using a "culturally competent" approach. You will learn about special considerations when planning, recruiting, and retaining research participants from diverse backgrounds across three modules using examples from real-world studies. Resource sheets you can use to plan your budget and design your recruitment and retention strategies for future studies are also provided.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify special considerations when conducting research with diverse participants.
  • Describe at least 3 strategies for both engaging with and retaining potential research participants from diverse backgrounds.
  • Differentiate between recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Develop a plan for conducting your own research in a culturally competent way.
